See a specialist
New to the sport? Going to any old tour operator is a bit like asking your newsagent to do some root canal work. Not very clever. It's probably better to go to a specialist instead (or at least ask someone at your local club for advice). Of course, if you know what you're looking for, a high street travel agent might do the job very nicely indeed.
Hurry! Book now!
Alright, so there are some pretty good late ski deals out there. But if you want the pick of the dates in the best ski resorts, you've got to book early.
Build your own holiday
With the internet, it's never been easier to arrange your own skiing holiday from cheap airline tickets through to ski resort accommodation, lift passes and equipment hire. You'll also find links to tourist information offices in all the big ski resorts.
One other quick thought remember to sort out your transport from the airport to your resort, and make sure you have a look at transport in your ski resort.

Get insured
If you come a cropper, you don't want to be hit with hospital and legal bills to boot. What you want is everything effortlessly taken care of. What you want is ski holiday insurance.
The legal bit
We try to check all the companies in the Snowlife directory. However, you really should double check if your tour operator is a member of ATOL or ABTA. That way, if they go under, you'll be protected.
Visit a ski show
Snowsport events and shows cram in a huge range of tour operators under one roof. Visit out Events Diary for details of all the UK snow shows this year.
Stay for the skiing season
Love skiing? Then why not spend a whole season indulging your passion just like the other 10,000 Brits who spend the whole winter season in a ski resort.
If you've got a few quid tucked away, you might be able to just live it up and hit the slopes every day. If not, you could pay for your stay by working for hotels, bars or for tour operators.
Find out more about seasons at the Natives website.
